As many of you may know, my surgical practice is at least 90% or more Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (MIS or MISS) compared to the old, traditional way of spine surgery or “Open” spine surgery.

Many academic institutions still train their residents and fellows with the traditional method of “Open” procedures but the evolution of spine surgery has grown by leaps and bounds over the past few years.

Most MIS surgeons (including myself) are able to perform the same Open procedures as the academic institutions however, there are so many benefits to MIS surgery that in my mind, this is the way to go!
