I recently read some updates on lumbar total disc replacement (LTDR) and have to admit that I was skeptical as to the history behind the elusive lumbar disc replacement and all of the problems associated with the FDA and discs in the mid-2000’s. However, continued research is finally pointing towards the positive outcomes and advantages of this treatment modality.
It appears as though that some of the leading brands for Lumbar TDR are now in their third generation of design. There are also a few surgeons around the nation that are consistently doing LTDR and maybe this chapter in spine surgery has finally turned the corner.
